Shizun on Flexible Employment of Tantric Methods

It is a well known fact that Buddhist cultivation can allow for the purification of a person's body and mind. However, the formulae and the profound significance behind the actual practices are difficult to grasp, if one does not have the guidance of an accomplished teacher.

On March 21st, His Holiness Living Buddha Lian-sheng delivered a sermon on the attainment of purification through flexible employment of Tantric methods.

"Observation of precepts is the first step towards attaining purification,"

His Holiness pointed out. "It is through abidance by the precepts that one can eliminate all unwholesome conducts, focus in meditation and eventually gain the wisdom of Buddhahood.

In sum, the observation of precepts, meditative stabilization and spiritual wisdom are the means towards achieving purification."

Next, His Holiness gave special instructions on the cultivation of purification methods in our daily lives.

The Grand Master said, "Before eating, the Dharma-cultivator can blow on his meal once, and visualize his breath turns into fiery flames to burn the food as offerings to the Deities.

In this case, the Dharma-cultivator is using his mantra-recitation power to bless and cleanse the food. (also refer to the chapter on the 'Manjushri Great Ocean Bardo Deliverance method' in the book, "Auxiliary Practices of Tantricism".)

"The Dharma-cultivator should also empower his clothes by reciting mantra and forming mudra, before putting them on. This is to generate the Armor Protection, which will preclude disturbances from any evil spirits. "

Meanwhile, the Protective Boundary must be erected along the perimeters of one's Altar and residence. You can visualize a great Umbrella Shelter appears amidst the Emptiness, covering and hence protecting your house.

"A Buddhist-cultivator should at all times, be inseparable from his Personal Deity and Dharma-protectors. He must constantly visualize the Personal Deity seated atop his crown, and he himself being surrounded by Dharma-protectors. Besides, a Buddhist disciple should always visualize a Vajra sceptre being held in his right hand, and a Vajra bell on his left.
These are also the visualization methods for purification."

Subsequently, His Holiness emphasized the protective precautions to be taken before going to bed. These measures are important especially when one is staying in hotels during travels. Such purification procedures must be observed even while asleep.

The Grand Master instructed, "First, visualize the bed transforming into a lotus. Proceed to sleep on the lotus bed and visualize your body turns into a Vajra sceptre. Follow this practice and no evil spirit will be able to steal your energy. (also refer to "The Subtlety of Zen" and "The Great Brilliance of Tantricism") "

Before consuming or using water, you can visualize the liquid being blessed by the sprinkled nectar from Kuan Yin Bodhisattva.
Next, form the mudra of the Deity and recite the Great Compassion Dharani.

By performing these steps, you are actually blessing the water with your Three Tantric Attributes.

* It must be noted that a Tantric-cultivator can purify all his food and drinks with the blessings from his Three Tantric Attributes."

In conclusion, His Holiness stressed, "The body, speech and mind, if purified, are equivalent to the Tantric Secrets of the Buddha.

As such, Buddhist-cultivators should practise the above purification methods in their everyday life, whether they are walking, standing, sitting or lying down, or performing any of their daily routines.

"It is through these practices that one is able to transform his Three Karmic properties into the Three Tantric Attributes, allowing the body, speech and mind to be purified, moving closer towards attaining Buddhahood and spiritual accomplishment.

Tantric cultivation stresses the purification of the body, speech and mind, directly transforming these faculties into the essences of the Buddha."

*Translator's Note: Blessings from the Three Tantric Attributes refer to the Mudra (body), Mantra (speech) and Yantra/visualisation (mind)

{{ In sum, the observation of precepts, meditative stabilization and spiritual wisdom are the means towards achieving purification." }}

The above translated statement somehow don't jell.
The Sequence of Wisdom and Purity?

As per Guru, in the Rainbow Attainment Book 3, from article: Appearance of Pure Light; Meditation is the Precursor to PURE LIGHT APPEARANCE.

With THESE PURE LIGHT, as per Guru, One is able to read the Karma of 3 Times of any subject, which is one of Buddha's wisdom or Ability to Read others at ONE GLANCE!

Guru said on 29-6-2013 that Thubten Ksiti has this ability to Read all those VMs', sitting beside him, Karma of 3 times!

Guru also said many times that One Must First Purify, in order to Yoga!

My point is: Purity comes before Realization of Buddha's Wisdoms or Universal Wisdom.

These Wisdoms are INHERENT in all of us, as we are all potential Buddhas!
Just have to take Cleansing Bath to Purify and we find our Buddha Nature. :)

Cheers all
